Ojai Unified School District is embarking upon a new era of creating schools that integrate place-based education and reflect the values and assets of our unique community. The deeply held values of environmental regeneration, wellness, creativity and a culture of inclusion are what make our community, and therefore our schools, special.
To inform our work, we held a summer “Engage to Impact” series along with several "Meet and Greet/Conozca y Salude" community discussions. In these dynamic and powerful community meetings, we explored the changing paradigm of education and how we can best serve our students together.
From this work grew a student-centered vision for the district that includes goals for the social and emotional well-being of our students, a plan for their academic success and a focus on making meaningful connections to our community values.
A few of the exciting initiatives supporting these goals include project-based learning, social-emotional curriculum, and even an opportunity for the community to teach our students through our new Community Classroom program.
Education is an ever-changing art, and in our fast-paced and innovative world, we are committed to growing and developing unique programs to meet the needs of our students.
Ultimately, we know that our public school students are the heart and future of the Ojai community, and that there are great things ahead for Ojai Unified School District students, staff, administrators and families.
